Project description
HPA-Faip was invited to participate in a tender for the development of an end-of-line project where, among other equipment, two different toe types were required:
- a system for aligning truck wheels with up to 3 axles
- a system for aligning truck wheels with up to 4 axles with two steering front axles
The cost limits imposed and the large size of the systems required a thorough feasibility study that led HPA-Faip to revise its technical concept.
The starting point was the basic theory of wheel aligning, which included an examination of all the steps required to perform a correct wheel alignment measurement. Therefore, a project was developed to meet the different requirements:
- large vehicles but small working spaces
- measurement precision, without affecting cycle time
- operator comfort preventing work from becoming impossible
- operational speed
- flexibility of use also for future new vehicle models
Winning features
- Thorough knowledge of the basic theory
- Reworking old concepts with lateral thinking
- Mastery of cutting-edge applicable technologies
- Availability of design resources capable of producing a compelling case
- Ability to listen and work on customer needs
- Proven operational reliability in existing plants

Customer’s needs
Optimising balance between:
- limited working time
- reduced space
- limited budget

Proposed solution
Total review of existing solutions to develop new ones in agreement with the customer.

Why they chose us
Suitability of the project for the customer's basic requirements.
