Project
End of Line for 4-wheel vehicle testing
Country
Italy
Project description
With the new Porter project, Piaggio needed to revolutionise its assembly line and end of line to test larger vehicles than before.
It commissioned us to redesign the end-of-line layout to include:
- a toe bench with headlight tester and steering wheel level.
- a performance bench with cabin
- a water test
- a belt with pergolas and lighting for quality control
- lifts for optional accessories assembly and various checks
- an extraction system capable of eliminating odour from exhaust gases, including an ATEX area.
The project began with an empty area where the equipment was placed by connecting it to the extraction line in an ergonomic and functional way.
Now, vehicles can be moved without polluting the environment or making significant noise.
There is also a dedicated area for filling air conditioning gas built in compliance with ATEX regulations.
All installations are industrial in nature and comply with customer-set cycle times of 3 minutes.
Winning features
- Dedicated line for testing 4-wheel vehicles with both endothermic engine and electric motor
- Measurement and adjustment of the main vehicle wheel alignment angles
- Measurement and adjustment of front headlights: low beam, high beam and fog lights
- Braking force measurements on each individual wheel
- ABS test or (ESP, ASR, TCR, etc.): check of ECU functionality, active and passive brake calliper functionality, etc.
- Speed test: up to 160 km/h with speedometer accuracy and top speed check
- Water test with automatic vehicle loading
