ADAS calibration station

Project description

The customer needed to calibrate the ADAS systems of cars with different floor pans (from small cars to SUVs) on the same assembly line.

We proposed a solution that allowed the position of the web hooks to be changed depending on the vehicle to be fitted: a station equipped with intelligent vision systems that recognised whether or not the hooks had been set correctly and, if necessary, allowed them to be adjusted to the vehicle.

Winning features

High reliability: manoeuvring and storage spaces are reduced. If new car models are added to the assembly line, an upgrade can be carried out with just a few changes and without interrupting production.

Excellent performance: the operator has everything at hand and there is no need for a warehouse with the necessary items to equip the hooks for different types of cars.

Complete service: we offered the customer a comprehensive and structured service, with fast response times and a maintenance and support contract.

Implementation and delivery times: full compliance with project deadlines with flexibility in responses and in adapting to the requests that came up from time to time.

Why they chose us

Flexibility, quality of service, turnaround time and confidence in the proposed solutions are factors that led VinFast to choose HPA-Faip for the project.

Electric motorbikes testing end of line

Electric motorbike testing End of Line
Country
Vietnam
Project description

The electric motorbike test line is divided into different test benches:

  • wheel aligner
  • brake and ABS tester
  • speed test
  • headlight tester

Each of these systems has unique features due to the nature of the vehicles to be tested.

The wheel aligner consists of two metric clamps which, within seconds, are able to measure the off-set between the front and rear wheel with millimetre precision.

The brake tester bench consists of two systems capable of safely holding the motorbike during the braking test and two rollers capable of measuring the braking force of the wheels.

The ABS test is performed on the same bench by working directly on the vehicle’s ABS control unit. This test is able to check the connection accuracy, the functioning of the control unit and the braking circuit related to the ABS safety device.

The speed test bench consists of an additional device for safely holding motorbikes and rollers capable of measuring speed. The rollers can simulate the friction forces of normal road travel. This makes the test more realistic and accurate.

The headlight tester is able to support the vehicle and requires only one person to measure and adjust the motorbike headlight.

In this configuration the line cycle time is just over one minute.

Thanks to the use of a PC for each bench, it is possible to measure, display, check compliance and record all measurements made so that they can be kept on file for the future.

Winning features
  • Complete measurement test on two-wheeled motorbikes with both endothermic engine and electric motor
  • Wheel alignment measure: millimetre precision with certified calibration
  • Braking force measurements on each individual wheel
  • ABS test or (ESP, ASR, TCR, etc.): check of ECU functionality, active and passive brake calliper functionality, etc.
  • Speed test: up to 100 km/h with speedometer accuracy and top speed check
  • Headlight measurements: measuring and adjusting the position of the low beam and high beam front headlight
Measurements performed
  • Off-set measurement of front/rear wheels
  • Maximum braking force, rolling resistance, run-out of brake disc measurements
  • ABS testing with both active and passive brake force measurement. Possible functional cruise control, … (control units, sensors, brake valves, …)
  • Functional test of speedometer at 50km/h or other reference speed, maximum absolute speed or limited by normal road friction, gear shifting. Engine ECU check and customised tests.
  • Light beam measurement broken down into its components of: vertical (high/low) horizontal (left/right) deviation and light intensity. Measurements can be made on both low beam and high beam.
